People in the Northern Division can expect better emergency services at the Labasa Hospital as the dmergency department has received a million dollar face-lift through Korean International Co-operation Agency’s assistance.

Minister for Health Dr. Ratu Atonio Rabici Lalabalavu says the emergency department is an important department in a hospital as it is the first place that a very sick person enters when seeking health care at a hospital.

While speaking at the handing over Dr. Lalabalavu says the emergency department and its environment should provide comfort and confidence to the patient at what can be a very challenging moment in their lives.

He says this project is another example of the generosity and support that KOICA and the Korean Government has for the Health Services in Fiji and the good health and well-being of the people of Fiji.

The Minister says this is not the only project that KOICA is doing in the Ministry.

He says KOICA has completed many multi-million-dollar projects for the Ministry in the past, and also have ongoing projects that are going to make significant impact on improving the quality and scope of health services in Fiji.

Dr. Lalabalavu says not only the patients will benefit from this, but equally important the staff will also enjoy coming to work everyday and will be more motivated to delivering health services to the people.
