19-year-old Oh Ye Jin made history by becoming the first Olympic champion from the Republic of Korea, winning gold and setting a new record in the Women's shooting 10-metre air pistol event.

Jin scored 243.2 points, demonstrating remarkable precision, with eight of her last nine shots scoring at least 10 points out of a possible 10.9.

Teammate Kim Yeji won silver with 241.3 points.

The earlier record of 240.3 points was set by Russia's Vitalina Batsarashkina at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

Korea is currently third in the Olympic Games medal tally, with 2 gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze.

Australia leads the medal tally with 3 gold and 2 silver, followed by China with 3 gold and 1 bronze, Korea is third with 2 gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze, while the USA is fourth with 1 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze. The Olympic Games will end on the 12th of next month.
