1893 youths throughout the country whose employment have been impacted by COVID-19 have been assisted through the Youth Farm Initiative.

These youths are part of 71 clubs and are assisted through grants given by the Ministry of Youth and Sports to start up their farming activities to generate income.

While receiving a $100,000 grant by China towards this initiative, Minister for Youth and Sports, Parveen Bala says more applications are coming in and they are confident to assist more clubs in all divisions.

Bala has thanked the Chinese Embassy for their continuous support towards the Ministry and the country as a whole.

Chinese Ambassador to Fiji, Qian Bo says he hopes that this grant will assist the unemployed youths to support their families during these difficult times.

Bo says he handed over $310,000 to Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama yesterday towards Fiji's fight against COVID-19 and they will do more to help Fiji recover from its effects.

He has also thanked the government for keeping Fiji a COVID-contained country.
