The 16 year old girl fighting for her life at the CWM Hospital following a house fire in Koronivia on Saturday night has died.
This was confirmed by her dad Umesh Prasad to Fijivillage.
16 year old, Shayal Shivika Prasad last night after suffering 85% burns in the fire which also claimed the lives of her younger sisters, 8 year old Shiral and 13 year old Shinal Prasad.
Shayal was the last of the 3 victims of the Koronivia house fire.
Speaking to Fijivillage, the girl’s father Umesh Prasad said he tried his best to rescue his daughter from the burning house.
Yet everything seemed to have happened so fast and he only managed to save his parents, wife and his 2 year old and 8 month old daughters.
He added his family members were asleep when the fire started around 11pm.
He saved his two daughters who received severe burns but the seven year old daughter remained stuck in the house when the roof of the house collapsed trapping her.
The Police and Fire Authority investigations reveal the fire started from the children’s room due to a candle which the family had lit because they had no electricity.
