16 schools are still being used as evacuation centres in the Northern Division.

Commissioner Northern, Uraia Rainima says their target is to handover these schools to the Ministry of Education by the 11th of next month.

Rainima says they have stepped up their operations in terms of moving families in these schools to make-shift homes and tents.

He says RFMF Engineers are erecting tents on the ground for people to occupy when they move out of these schools.

Rainima says they are also doing quick-fixes on damaged homes for people to be back in the comfort of their homes.

53 evacuation centres with 2,171 evacuees are still active in the Northern Division.
