15-year-old Ranadi wins gold in the U16 100m, while Vonolagi races to glory in the U20 boys 100m

What a spectacular performance from Team Fiji in track and field during the 2026 Oceania Athletics Championship, collecting 10 medals yesterday, including six gold medals.

MGM High School student and 15-year-old Veniana Ranadi won gold in the U16 girls 100 metres with a time of 12.39 seconds. She was 0.17 seconds shy of the record of 12.22 seconds set by Mikayla Webb of North Queensland in 2022.

Ranadi will be looking to claim another gold for Team Fiji when she competes in the U16 girls long jump at 1.30pm today.

Suva Grammar's Paula Vonolagi sprinted to glory in the U20 men's 100 metres, stopping the clock at 10.70 seconds, while Elijah Vakacegu won gold in the U16 boys 800 metres with a time of 2 minutes 1.60 seconds.

Sitiveni Kuanaivalu claimed gold in the U20 high jump, clearing 1.95 metres, Eleni Rakasi won gold in the U16 girls discus, while Brieanna Rabakewa won gold in the U20 women's discus.

In other results, Marist Brothers High School's Kirikiti Biu claimed silver in the U16 boys 100 metres, Adi Ceva Lutumailagi won silver in the U20 women's 800 metres, Farhan Ali settled for silver in the U20 men's shot put, Heleina Young won bronze in the Open women's 200 metres, while Gladness Simpson settled for bronze in the U20 women's 800 metres.

Looking at today's events, Desmond Reddy will feature in the U20 men's 1,500 metres final at 5.15pm, Gladness Simpson will compete in the U20 women's 1,500 metres final at 5.25pm, Veremo Vasuitoga will participate in the U20 men's 400 metres final at 5.40pm, Adi Ceva Lutumailagi will compete in the U20 women's 400 metres heats at 5.45pm, Kirikiti Biu and Elijah Vakacegu will feature in the U16 boys 200 metres finals at 7.05pm, and Avikash Lal will feature in the men's senior 5,000 metres at 8.25pm.

Team Fiji will also compete in the women's senior 4x100 metres relay at 7.45pm, the men's senior 4x100 metres relay at 8.15pm and the open mixed 4x400 metres relay at 8.45pm.
