As people from various parts of the country raised concerns about upgrading mortuaries, the Fiji Government has announced that $1.2 million has been allocated for the construction of new mortuary facilities.

This funding will cover various health centres and hospitals, including Navua Hospital, Wainibokasi Health Centre, Nayavu Health Centre in Tailevu, Nadarivatu Health Centre in Ra, Rakiraki and Tavua Sub Divisional Hospitals, Kadavu, Levuka, Savusavu, Dreketi, Nabouwalu and Taveuni Sub-Divisional Hospitals.

The Government says this investment aims to improve healthcare infrastructure and ensure the dignified handling of deceased people across these regions.

We have sought clarification from the Health Ministry regarding the timeline for these projects.
