11 students with parents to go on hunger strike
Eleven students of Labasa Sangam College and their parents will go on a hunger strike after they were given zero mark during a Biology test in the external exams.

This is after the Ministry of Education stood by its decision to give zero mark to the eleven students.

Permanent Secretary Dr. Brij Lal said a complaint was filed by the parents disputing that the students did not copy during the examination.

However Dr. Lal said they have fully investigated the matter and stand by their decision to give zero to the eleven students.

One of the parent's Rajesh Lal said that their children have been victimized which has pushed them to go on a hunger strike from Monday.

Rajesh Lal said these 11 students are some of the top students of the school including the dux.

He also said that they have also taken the matter to the Prime Minister and will wait for his decision.

He added that this is not the first time this has happened as in 2010 some of the student's were given zero in their physics paper after which the principal wrote to the Ministry of Education where some of the students were then given their proper marks.
