11 students and their parents to go on hunger strike
11 students of Labasa Sangam College and their parents are going on a hunger strike from this morning to protest over the zero marks they received in Biology for the Fiji Seventh Form Examination.

Speaking to Fijivillage this morning, student Nathaneal Lal said they have been victimised and will go on hunger strike at their school for as long as they have to until the Ministry of Education changes their marks.

Lal scored 69 in English, 88 in the Maths, 82 in Physics and 80 in Chemistry.

The Form 7 student added that the Ministry of Education has no evidence that they copied and they will not take the option of re-siting their paper.

He added that not at any one time did any of the supervisors of the biology paper raise any concern of how the examination was conducted on the day to the students.

Earlier Permanent Secretary for Education, Dr. Brij Lal said they have fully investigated the matter and stand by their decision to give zero to the eleven students.
