The refurbishment of the Yatu Lau Arcade in Suva is expected to create more job opportunities and improve services for the people, as the modernized complex sits in the heart of the city.

The upgraded arcade now features a food court, barbershop, dental clinic and a variety of stalls where businesses can continue to operate and expand their services to the public.

The Chairman of Yatu Lau Company Limited, Viliame Leqa says they have spent over $10 million on the renovation.

Leqa says after the refurbishment, they have created 90 spaces compared to the 70 that were previously available.

He adds that the rent ranges from $2,000 to $3,000 a month.

Speaking at the reopening, the Tui Nayau, Sau Ni Vanua o Lau, Ratu Tevita Uluilakeba Mara, says the revitalization of the Yatu Lau Arcade is a direct result of cooperation and perseverance among the people of Lau.

Ratu Tevita also highlighted that the project represents a transformation, breaking down institutional barriers and fostering greater unity within the community.

He reminded the youth of Lau that they are the driving force behind such developments.

The Tui Nayau emphasized that the reopening reflects the sacrifices of past generations, and encouraged young people to stay connected to their roots, learn from their elders, and continue giving back to their community.

He also reminded the iTaukei that with cooperation, they can thrive and remain competitive in business.
