Good news for the University of the South Pacific students and staff as the Fiji Government has today released $10 million to USP.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Professor Biman Prasad says this is the first tranche payment to clear the outstanding grant owed to USP.

Funding has been sourced from the 2022-2023 National Budget with a redeployment exercise approved by Cabinet earlier this month.

Professor Prasad says moving forward, the Ministry of Finance will work closely with the Ministry of Education, Fiji Higher Education Commission and USP to work out a payment plan to clear the outstanding dues to the University.

The total amount of USP grant to be paid by June this year is $116 million.
