$10 fine under review

Assistant Minister for Health, Veena Bhatnagar said they are still looking at increasing the fine for those found guilty of allowing mosquitoes to breed in their compound.

She said they are seriously looking into the matter as dengue fever cases are on the rise.

The current fine is $10.

Bhatnagar said they are working in collaboration with the Town Councils.

She said if found guilty, people will be dealt with in the courts.

The Multi-Agency Task Force from the Ministry of Health and other municipalities are meeting on a weekly basis.

226 dengue fever cases have been recorded so far this year.
