1 to 2 cyclones likely to pass through Fiji’s Exclusive Economic Zone during the new cyclone season

One to two tropical cyclones are likely to pass through Fiji’s Exclusive Economic Zone during the 2024 - 2025 Tropical Cyclone season.

The Nadi Weather Office says of these, at least one cyclone is likely to reach severe Category 3 to 5.

They say there is an equal risk of Tropical Cyclones affecting any part of the Fiji Group.

The official 2024 - 2025 Tropical Cyclone Season begins on 1st November, 2024, and ends on 30th April, 2025.

Tropical cyclone activities in the Pacific Island region are closely associated with the El Niño Southern Oscillation (ENSO), which is a fluctuation of oceanic and atmospheric conditions between the eastern and western tropical Pacific.
