Pineapple Lawn Bowling Competition kicks off this weekend

Over 40 participants, including 14-year-old Emele Sigarara from Gospel High School, are set to compete in this weekend’s Pineapple Lawn Bowling Competition at the Suva Bowling Club.

Game Coordinator Litia Tikiosuva expressed gratitude at this morning’s press conference, where Kontiki Finance presented the sponsorship cheque of $5,000 for the 2025 Pineapple Cup.

She highlighted that the Pineapple Cup has been a beloved event since 1928 and thanked Kontiki Finance for their continued generosity and unwavering support for the bowling community across the country.

She says bowling is often considered a minor sport, and Kontiki’s commitment truly makes a difference.

She adds that while the Games Committee is still finalizing prize details, an announcement is expected before the tournament begins.

Kontiki Finance Marketing Manager Joni Moce also shared his excitement, saying that it is an honour to sponsor this event again.

He says this is the seventh year they are sponsoring this event.

He says the sport is growing, and they encourage families to come down and enjoy the thrilling matches.

The Pineapple Cup tournament will be held this Saturday and Sunday at the Suva Bowling Club.

Semesa Naiseruvati will be defending his title in the men's division while Sainiana Walker will be defending her title in the women's division.
