The Opals have bounced back from a loss to Nigeria by defeating Canada early this morning 70-65.

While another loss wouldn't have ended their Olympic campaign, it would have put them in a difficult position before their next game against France.

Australia's defence and key contributions from players like Sami Whitcomb, Cayla George and Marianna Tolo were crucial.

The Opals capitalised on Canada's poor 35 percent shooting, and despite struggles in the third quarter, they maintained their lead with strong defence.

A George 3-pointer extended the lead to 13 points in the fourth quarter, and the Opals held on for a crucial win.

They face France next with a win likely securing a spot in the quarter-finals.
