 Navua crime officers given time frame on alleged gang rape report

Police Chief of Intelligence and Investigations, ACP Vakacegu Toduadua has given the Navua crime officers until next week to come back with a progress report on the 14 men who are yet to be charged with allegedly raping an 11 year old girl in Namosi in 2012.

ACP Toduadua says the 14 men are still at large because Police are yet to identify them.

He says the reports he has received is that they were only known by their nicknames however he has directed the crime officers to pursue this further.

The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions has already confirmed that fourteen people who allegedly raped an 11‑year‑old girl on multiple occasions in Namosi in 2012 are still at large.

Four other men have already been separately charged with raping the same 11‑year‑old girl in Namosi.

Joeli Tago who was 19 at the time, Rusiate Kotobalavu who was 17, Lorima Tuisasa who was 17 and Kamueli Nokonokovou who was 15 in the year 2012 have pleaded not guilty before Justice Daniel Goundar.

They will reappear in court on the 6th of April.

The four had allegedly committed the offence on separate incidents between the 4th to the 9th of May, 2014.
