New Zealand Rugby has confirmed that Super Rugby will be back at Covid-19 alert level 2, with the Government confirming that professional sports will be allowed to return under the necessary public health guidelines.

NZ Rugby revealed that the competition will be called Super Rugby Aotearoa, which will involve New Zealand's five franchises - the Blues, Chiefs, Hurricanes, Crusaders and Highlanders.

The five teams will play each other home and away over 10 weeks, with two matches every weekend.

All matches will be played in closed stadiums.

NZ Rugby boss Mark Robinson said further details about the domestic Super Rugby competition, such as dates, will be confirmed once the country moves into level 2.
