The 43-year-old mother charged with allegedly assaulting her 16-year-old daughter has been further remanded in custody by the Suva Magistrates Court this morning.

Maria Waqasaqa is charged with one count of act with intent to cause bodily harm.

It is alleged that on 6th February 2024 Waqasaqa hit her daughter with a mop stick several times on her left shoulder and also threw an empty bottle at her.

The mother has applied for bail however, the state has sought 7 days to respond to the supplementary affidavit and the bail application.

The case has been adjourned to the 26th of March.
