More than 5,000 families have received seed packages distributed by the Ministry of Agriculture this month.

3,700 seed packages have been distributed in Lami, Suva, Nausori and Korovou.

They have also given out 1,400 seed packages in Ra, Tavua, Ba, Lautoka and Nadi.

Minister for Agriculture Doctor Mahendra Reddy says they are working in close collaboration with Police in ensuring that strict COVID-19 protocols are followed by both the distributing teams and those receiving the seed packages.

He says the initiative was for those who wanted to establish and re-establish their home gardens.

People can call 1523 to ask for seeds from the Ministry of Agriculture.
