 Labasa fisherman arrested following discovery of $23,000 worth of meth

A 39-year-old fisherman from Labasa has been arrested following the discovery of $23,000 worth of methamphetamine in Labasa this week.

Police say the accused who is from Vunivau, Labasa was stopped and searched whereby officers allegedly found plastic bags containing white crystals inside his car.

They say the accused has been charged with one count of unlawful possession of illicit drugs and will be appearing in the Labasa Magistrates Court tomorrow.

Officers also conducted raids at two homes belonging to the accused whereby dried leaves believed to be marijuana and a  plastic with white substance believed to be illicit drugs were allegedly found.

The seized plants and drugs will be sent for analysis as investigation continues.
