IMF and World Bank officials to visit Fiji

Officials from the International Monetary Fund and World Bank will be in the country this month to have discussions with the Fiji government on their proposals put forward in their last meeting in Istanbul and to see whether the two countries will financially assist the government to carry out reforms proposed in the Peoples Charter.

Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama reveals that initially, the IMF and World Bank had sent their officials to carry out checks and balances on the state of the economy, but now they have agreed to come to Fiji for further discussions regarding funding the Government's reform and Commodore Bainimarama hopes it will be a fruitful visit.

Commodore Bainimarama has also revealed that the Chinese, Japanese and Korean governments have supported Fiji's proposal to the World Bank regarding the funding of reforms.
