Police are still looking for the driver of the vehicle that caused the death of a woman in her 30s in Suva last night.

The woman was crossing along Stinson Parade when she was hit by a vehicle, which failed to stop after the accident.

It is believed to be a hit-and-run incident.

The woman was then rushed to the CWM Hospital, where she was unfortunately pronounced dead on arrival.

Meanwhile, two people, including a 10-year-old girl and a 47-year-old woman, passed away in two separate accidents in the past two days.

The 10-year-old girl was a passenger in a vehicle driven by her father, which veered off the road and hit a post along the Kings Road in Navola, Korolevu in Sigatoka yesterday.

The 47-year-old woman was involved in an accident that occurred on Friday night along the Kings Road, near Vitogo in Lautoka.

According to the Police, she was travelling in a vehicle driven by a 27-year-old man, and while overtaking, the driver hit a truck from the opposite lane, causing it to veer off the road.

The woman sustained serious injuries, which unfortunately led to her death.

The national road death toll currently stands at 52 compared to 42 for the same period last year.
