 Heavy rain warning remains

A heavy rain warning remains in force for the Northern Division, Lau, Lomaiviti Group, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands, Eastern half of Viti Levu from Serua/Namosi, Navua, Suva, Nausori, Tailevu, Naitasiri, Ra, Rakiraki and Tavua.

The Nadi Weather Office says the previous heavy rain warning that was in force for the Western half of Viti Levu, Yasawa and Mamanuca is now cancelled.

They say a trough of low pressure lies over the group and slowly moving east and is expected to move eastwards and be located to the east by Sunday.

The Weather Office says associated clouds and showers will affect parts of the group.

Meanwhile, a southwesterly to northerly wind flow prevails over the country.

Heavy rain can cause flash flooding in some low-lying informal settlements/communities, businesses and Irish crossings, leading to traffic disruptions.

It can also cause surface flooding on streets, particularly in urban areas with poor drainage systems and reduced visibility.
