Fiji Women’s Crisis Centre Coordinator Shamima Ali says by giving sports stars special treatment, there is a wrong message being sent out to sports.

Ali says sports stars are being given the message that they can commit such offences and get away with it.

She made these comments in relation to former Fiji 7s player Amenoni Nasilasila, who is serving a rape sentence of 8 years and was allegedly seen training with the Namosi Rugby Team last week at the Suva Grammar School grounds.

Ali says this is not acceptable to give sports stars, special treatment.

Ali says he is not even eligible for parole at this time.

She says the Fiji Women’s Crisis Centre will be raising their concerns with the relevant authorities.

The Fiji Corrections Service and the Namosi Rugby Team are yet to comment on this regard.
