Desperation would be a factor when the Blues head into Crusaders country for their Super Rugby Aotearoa game in Christchurch tomorrow.

Having slipped from a likely finalist in the competition, the Blues are in danger of being tipped out as a result of the Chiefs' rise.

Coach Leon MacDonald says the close nature of the competition meant every game was almost desperation for all teams.

He says they are still scoring four tries a game which is an improvement from last year yet they are not getting home in some of these close games which is disappointing.

The Crusaders will take on the Blues at 3.35pm tomorrow.

In the match last night, the Chiefs beat the Hurricanes 26-24.

In the Super Rugby Australia, the Force have secured their place in the qualifying final after a dramatic 30-27 win over the Reds last night.
