Concerns have been raised as four schools in the Western Division have been identified to be infested by termites.

Arya Pratinidhi Sabha of Fiji National President, Arun Deo Padarath highlighted this during the 2025 Arya Convention and 108th AGM celebrations at DAV Girls College in Samabula.

Padarath says these four schools include Gurukul Primary School, Pt. Vishnu Deo Memorial College, Arya Samaj Primary School in Lautoka and Arya Kanya Pathshala in Ba.

He says Pt. Vishnu Deo College is the most affected with seven out of ten classrooms in one block seriously affected while two staff quarters were demolished in Arya Kanya Pathshala because of the termite condition.

The National President is appealing to the Ministry of Education to provide adequate funding for a safer learning environment.

Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Professor Biman Prasad says they will allocate funds in the 2025-2026 National Budget to address these issue.

The Budget will be tabled in Parliament on June 27th.
