The State has been given 30 days to destroy 20.8 kilograms of cocaine seized in the case involving Colombian national Aiden Hurtado.

Suva High Court Judge Justice Tushara Rajasinghe issued the order after State lawyer Eoghn Samisoni informed the court that the cocaine, which was initially weighed at 20.5 kilograms, now weighs 20.8 kilograms.

The State has also been directed to file a report with the court registry following the destruction of the drugs.

Hurtado was convicted in 2017 for the unlawful importation of cocaine into Fiji in 2014.
