A blood drive will be held at the Rakiraki Sub-Divisional Hospital tomorrow, with the Ministry of Health urging eligible residents to come forward and donate.
The drive will run from 9am to 3.30pm.
The Ministry says one blood donation can save up to three lives, helping accident victims, mothers during childbirth, patients undergoing surgery and those receiving cancer treatment.
It says eligible donors must be aged between 18 and 60, weigh at least 50 kilograms and be in good health.
Donors are advised to eat a healthy meal before donating and avoid alcohol beforehand.
The Ministry also lists not taking medication as one of the eligibility conditions.
The Ministry is encouraging families, friends, neighbours, church groups, schools and workplaces to support the initiative and help spread awareness about the importance of blood donation.
Those who are unable to donate are encouraged to share the message to reach more potential donors.
For more information, people can contact the hospital or visit its reception desk.
