Cane growers urged to deliver all cane before Lautoka and Labasa mills close

Sugarcane growers and harvesting gangs are being urged to speed up harvesting and cane deliveries as the 2026 crushing seasons at the Lautoka and Labasa mills approach their closing dates.

The Sugar Cane Growers Council says the Lautoka Mill will end its 2026 crushing season this Sunday and growers are urged to harvest and deliver all remaining cane by Saturday.

Meanwhile, the Labasa Mill is scheduled to end its crushing season on November 6th.

The Council is calling on all growers and harvesting gangs in the Labasa Mill area to make every effort to harvest and deliver all cane by November 5th, a day before the mill closes.

Growers are encouraged to plan their harvesting and deliveries carefully to ensure as much cane as possible is processed before the end of the crushing season.
