Vunivaceva families face water shortage as well dries up
Residents of Vunivaceva in Labasa are struggling to access drinking water as the prolonged dry spell continues to affect their water supply, and a dried-up well has left families with little to no water, forcing them to look for other ways to meet their daily needs.

Speaking to fijivillage News, 61-year-old Anwar Khan says their well has dried up, leaving his family with no reliable source of water for the past six months.

Khan says they have been relying on the Water Authority of Fiji's water trucks, which deliver up to 2,000 litres of water, but this is not enough for families, which have many people, including children.

He says they have no other source of water and are forced to visit other people's homes to collect water using buckets and vehicles.

Khan says they are hoping to receive more regular assistance.

He is now appealing to the Government to urgently provide water to families affected by the dry spell, saying access to water would make a big difference to everyone in the area.

Questions have been sent to the Water Authority of Fiji.
