From the dusty village grounds of Viti Levu to the remote islands of Fiji, the search is on for the country’s next rugby superstar.
FIJI Water Flying Fijians head coach Jake White is on a mission to find the next Rupeni Caucau or Sitiveni Sivivatu as preparations for the next Rugby World Cup continue.
White is calling on every village, settlement, school, club and rugby-loving family across Fiji to help him discover the raw talent that could shine on the world stage in the white jersey of the Flying Fijians.
White says the message is simple: if a boy can play, throw him in the net.
From barefoot youngsters running rings around defenders on muddy village fields to powerful wingers troubling opposition teams in local competitions, White wants the nation to help cast the widest net possible.
He believes that somewhere out there, on a remote island or a quiet village ground, another rugby star could be waiting for an opportunity to shine.
White says his goal is to take the best 33 players to the Rugby World Cup next year.
The Flying Fijians are preparing for the upcoming Nations Championship next month where they will face France on Monday 9th at 8.10am, before taking on Ireland on the 15th and Italy on the 22nd.
The Flying Fijians have climbed to ninth place in the latest World Rugby rankings.
The Rugby World Cup begins on the 1st of October 2027.
