Every child, regardless of their background or ability, must be given equal opportunities to learn, participate and reach their full potential.
This is the Fiji Day message from Minister for Education Aseri Radrodro as he calls on all Fijians to embrace unity, respect and inclusion in building a nation where every child is valued.
Radrodro says education plays a vital role in building an inclusive society by nurturing responsible citizens and ensuring every child has the opportunity to learn and succeed.
He says this is in line with the Fiji Day 2026 theme, “An Inclusive Fiji for a Better Tomorrow”.
He says as part of this year’s Fiji Day celebrations, 18 secondary schools from the Central Division were selected for the Fiji Day Oratory Contest, held at the FTA Hall on Wednesday under the theme “Empowering Youth Against HIV and Drug Abuse”.
Radrodro commended students from the 15 participating schools for speaking confidently on issues that matter deeply to young people.
He congratulated the winners, Ridhik Reddy of Jai Narayan College, Aba Lal of Rishikul Sanatan College and Makereta Rokobuli of Adi Cakobau School, who received their prizes at Albert Park today.
He says 275 students from seven schools will march in the national celebrations, while the Ratu Kadavulevu School meke group will perform.
Radrodro says their participation reflects the spirit and unity of young people.
He is encouraging schools to continue drug and HIV awareness programmes, highlighting the importance of prevention, accurate information and reducing stigma among young people.
He is urging students, teachers, parents and communities to work together to promote inclusion and safeguard the wellbeing of young people.
Radrodro says an inclusive Fiji begins with how people treat one another and how children are prepared to become responsible, caring and informed citizens.
He says Fiji Day is a reminder of the shared responsibility to build a peaceful, inclusive and prosperous future for all Fijians.
