The Fiji Commerce and Employers Federation has welcomed the Government’s decision to extend the existing fuel-duty concession until 31st December 2026, saying it will help businesses manage fuel costs and protect employment.
FCEF says the concession will continue to support eligible businesses in sectors including manufacturing, tourism, mining and power generation, as well as Energy Fiji Limited and bus operators.
FCEF Chief Executive Officer Edward Bernard says fuel remains a significant operating cost for businesses, and the extension recognises the continued pressure it places on their operations.
He says the concession will help eligible employers manage these costs, maintain essential services and sustain employment.
FCEF says it remains available for the proposed review of the concession and is encouraging continued consultation with affected sectors to assess its effectiveness and help inform future decisions.
