A seven-year-old child and a young woman were evacuated from Namuka, Lau, by the Fiji Navy for urgent medical attention today.
The Fiji Navy says RFNS Timo was retasked to carry out the urgent medical evacuation while it was on a national government tasking.
The crew retrieved the seven-year-old child and the young woman following a request from the Ministry of Health and Medical Services, as both required urgent medical attention.

RFNS Timo has been deployed for the past three weeks but had to adjust its tasking because of the urgent nature of the situation.
The Fiji Navy says its personnel remain prepared to adjust their deployment tasks whenever urgent needs arise.
The Navy has also been working closely with the Ministry of Health in recent weeks to assist people from the outer islands who require urgent medical attention.
