Water carting operations are underway for communities on Yanuca Island in Serua as ongoing dry conditions continue to cause water shortages.

The Ministry of Rural and Maritime Development and Disaster Management says the operation is being carried out by MLC Vunilagi through the National Disaster Risk Management Office, in collaboration with the Divisional Commissioner Central Office.

MLC Vunilagi was deployed yesterday and is currently delivering water to communities on the island affected by the ongoing dry conditions and water shortages.

The Ministry says the operation is part of the Government’s continued efforts to provide essential water supplies to communities experiencing water stress.

The NDRMO, in collaboration with the Ministry of Public Works, Meteorological Services and Transport and the Water Authority of Fiji, continues to coordinate and monitor water supply operations to ensure affected communities receive the necessary assistance.

Communities are being encouraged to conserve water and use available supplies responsibly while the dry conditions persist.

The Government says it remains committed to supporting affected communities and ensuring essential water supplies reach those in need.
