Tikoduadua's daughter to return home after months of recovery following vehicle incident at Laqere checkpoint

Tikoduadua's daughter to return home after months of recovery following vehicle incident at Laqere checkpoint
The daughter of Minister for Defence, Pio Tikoduadua, is preparing to return home this Saturday after months of medical treatment and rehabilitation for serious injuries sustained while manning a checkpoint and being hit by a vehicle allegedly driven by suspects linked to drug-related offences and a robbery who were being pursued by Fiji Police.

Tikoduadua, in his social media post, says his daughter who is a police officer had endured a difficult recovery after sustaining multiple serious injuries, including fractures to her right arm and leg, a fractured left knee and significant internal injuries.

Tikoduadua says her condition was so severe that she was placed in an induced coma for five weeks to allow doctors to carry out operations and provide the necessary treatment.

He says since April, she has spent months receiving medical care in Fiji and Australia, undergoing treatment and rehabilitation as she worked towards recovery.

Tikoduadua described the experience as a difficult and deeply personal journey for his family, praising his daughter for her strength, courage and determination throughout the ordeal.

Tikoduadua says some battles are fought in uniform others are fought quietly, one step at a time.

Despite the challenges she has faced, the Minister says his daughter is now ready to return home this Saturday and remains determined to continue serving her country.

He says he was proud of her resilience and willingness to return to duty after enduring such a difficult period in her life.

Tikoduadua also expressed his gratitude to the doctors, nurses and other health workers at the Colonial War Memorial Hospital in Suva and Epworth Hospital in Australia for their care and support throughout her recovery.

He acknowledged the Fijian community in Melbourne and all those who had contributed to supporting her treatment, as well as those who had kept his daughter and family in their thoughts and prayers.

The Minister's message highlighted not only his daughter's physical recovery but also the emotional challenges faced by families as they support loved ones through serious injuries and prolonged hospital treatment.
