A 23 year old foreign worker who was employed by Zamzam Restaurant and was admitted in critical condition after the gas cylinder explosion, has unfortunately passed away.

The other restaurant worker, a female, remains admitted in critical condition.

She is on life support.

Police and the National Fire Authority are working together to determine exactly what caused the incident.

They say initial information suggests the incident may have been caused by a gas leak, however authorities say the official report will confirm the exact cause.

The gas company technicians were working on the leak when the explosion occurred.

The restaurant's dining area was not affected by the blaze.
