The President, Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu, and the First Lady, Emily Lalabalavu, hosted a reception at State House to commemorate Fiji’s 56th anniversary of Independence last night.
The reception brought together Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka, the Chief Justice Salesi Temo, Cabinet Ministers, members of the diplomatic corps, representatives of the disciplined forces and invited guests to mark the national occasion.
A highlight of the evening was the ceremonial toast marking Fiji’s Independence on 10th October 1970, reflecting on the nation’s journey and its shared aspirations for continued peace, unity and prosperity.
As Fiji marked 56 years of Independence, the occasion also highlighted the importance of preserving the country’s diverse cultures and traditions, upholding shared values and strengthening national unity.
