After 20 years in the workforce, Manita Singh of Namadi Heights has turned to self-taught knitting to build her own business and remain financially independent despite health challenges.

Singh says she started, Cozy Threads knitting business while staying at home after becoming ill and leaving her job, as she wanted to find something productive to do for herself rather than depend on her children.
She says the idea came to her during a difficult period in her life, and she began learning by watching YouTube videos.

Although she had no formal training in knitting, Singh gradually taught herself how to make different items, including bags, baby products, shawls, scarves and tops.
She says her decision to start the business was driven by her desire to remain independent and continue supporting herself and her family.
Singh has two sons, both of whom are civil engineers, but she says she does not want to rely on them financially.
Having spent 20 years working, she wanted to continue doing something meaningful after leaving her job.

Singh says she hopes her journey will encourage young people and mothers to help themselves, explore their interests and find ways to become independent.
She says people should not simply depend on their children when they have opportunities to develop their own skills and do something for themselves.

Despite the health challenges she has faced, Singh has continued working on her knitting and is using her skills to build a small business.
