A 25-year-old man is expected to appear in the Nadi Magistrates Court today charged with allegedly obtaining $600 through deception in a purported business investment opportunity.
The accused allegedly sent a Viber message to the victim between May 12th to 22nd this year, offering an opportunity to purchase electronic gift cards in exchange for a promised $10,000 to help her start a business.
The victim subsequently transferred $600 but failed to receive the promised return on her investment.
A report was then lodged with Police.
The Fiji Police Force Anti-Scam Taskforce has charged the man with one count of obtaining financial advantage by deception.
