Fiji Ports and Police investigations into vandalised imported vehicles continue

Car dealer offers $1,000 reward for credible, evidence-based information

Fiji Ports and Police investigations into vandalised imported vehicles continue

Jason Auto & More Pte Ltd Managing Director, Jason Chandra says he is still waiting for the outcome of investigations into the vandalism of five imported vehicles at the port last week, while Fiji Ports Corporation Limited and Police say the investigations are continuing.

The five imported vehicles from the company's latest shipment were found to have sustained what appears to be deliberate scratches and vandalism upon collection from Suva Wharf last Tuesday.

The damage was discovered during the clearance process before the vehicles were transported to the dealership.

Speaking to fijivillage News, Chandra says he remains concerned about the delay.

Chandra says they are offering a $1,000 reward for credible, evidence-based information, which will be passed on to Police.

He says Police have kept him informed, with the investigating officer, the forensic team and other officers visiting the dealership to photograph the damaged vehicles.

He says Police also visited Fiji Ports as part of the investigation.

He adds that he hopes they will soon receive an update on the investigation and estimates the damage to the five vehicles to be at least $10,000.

Chandra says he is speaking out not only for his business but for the entire motor vehicle industry.

He says while this happened to his company, it could happen to any dealer in the country, and someone needs to speak up to ensure it does not become a precedent.

He also has a message for the person responsible, saying they should understand that the law will catch up with them.

He says it is not fair to damage someone else's property and that people should respect the property of others and do the right thing.
