The villages of Totoya came out in numbers today to be part of their annual collection at the FMF Gymnasium, where the funds collected will go towards the development of the Totoya Secondary School which caters for children from the islands.
Village Headman Suliasi Tukete says the soli was initially launched by a group of Lauan people with connections to Totoya, who contributed $105,000.

He says the five mataqali in Totoya will each contribute $20,000, with the committee expecting to collect around $200,000 today.
Tukete says their forefathers began the vision of building a school for their children by planting pine trees some 50 years ago.
He says that vision and dream has since become a reality, following the construction of the school in 2005.
