British wrestler Benjamin Satterley, better known as Pac, has died at 40.
All Elite Wrestling (AEW) says it was saddened to announce the passing of Satterley, who signed with the organisation in 2019.
His death was confirmed a day after he competed at AEW’s “All Out” event at an arena in Chicago on Saturday evening.
Satterley, who was from Newcastle upon Tyne, England, began his professional wrestling career in 2004 and went on to perform for wrestling organisations around the world.
AEW says he captivated fans with his innovative high-flying moves and exceptional ability inside the ring.
No cause of death has been given.
Satterley held several AEW championships and competed in what the organisation described as “some of the most memorable matches in AEW history”.
Before joining AEW, he also wrestled for World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), New Japan Pro-Wrestling and Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre in Mexico.
The nickname referred to one of his signature finishing moves, in which he would spin 360 degrees from the top rope before landing on his opponent.
Tributes have poured in following news of his death, with many expressing shock.
WWE Hall of Famer Paul Heyman described his death as a truly terrible loss, says Satterley was a tremendous talent and even finer human being.
AEW President Tony Khan says Satterley defined excellence as a husband and friend, as well as through his wrestling knowledge, skill, and unprecedented athleticism.
