Timothée Chalamet was one of the big winners at this year’s Golden Globe Awards, as Hollywood stars gathered to celebrate the best in film and television yesterday.

The 30-year-old actor won best actor in a musical or comedy for his role in the table tennis film Marty Supreme, beating nominees including Leonardo DiCaprio and George Clooney.

The win keeps Chalamet firmly in the race for an Oscar.

Although DiCaprio missed out on an acting award, his film One Battle After Another was the most successful of the night, taking home four awards, including best musical or comedy film and best director.

Other acting winners on the night included Teyana Taylor, Rose Byrne, Wagner Moura and Stellan Skarsgård.

Television programmes were also honoured, with British actors Stephen Graham, Owen Cooper and Erin Doherty winning awards for their performances in the Netflix drama Adolescence.

This was Chalamet’s fifth Golden Globe nomination and his first win.
