The Accident Compensation Commission of Fiji says the announcement of the complete exemption of the annual Motor Vehicle Accident Levy will provide relief to motor vehicle owners for one year as the nation copes with the significant impacts of COVID-19.

The exemption will be for the period commencing on and from 1st August 2021 to 31st July 2022,

This was highlighted during the ACCF’s Board meeting held this week.

They say this is in recognition of the severe impacts of COVID-19 on Fiji’s economy and families in Fiji.

ACCF stated that the owner of a motor vehicle is, upon the registration or renewal of registration of the motor vehicle with the Authority, exempted from payment of the annual Motor Vehicle Accident Levy.

The Board was advised that the Commission is continuing to assist the victims of motor vehicle, employment and school accidents thanks to the successful activation of its Business Continuity Plan.

ACCF says more than $20 million in compensation was paid to victims and families of victims of motor vehicle, employment and school accidents since January 2018.

$16.04 million was paid for Motor Vehicle Accidents, $4.44 million for Employment Accidents and $ 285,000 for School Accidents $285,000.
