Dream come true for Mohammed to open first care-giving agency in the country

Dream come true for Mohammed to open first care-giving agency in the country

A 10 year dream has finally come to fruition for Ethel Rozie Mohammed who has opened up Loloma Kauwai, the first Care-Giving Agency in the country.

Mohammed currently employs 9 qualified care-givers who do hospice, home care basis, child minding and are available from a few hours a day, to a 24/7 service.

She is a registered nurse by profession but due to a medical condition which she suffered a few years back, she is unable to practice.

The Loloma Kauwai founder is currently working with the National Ambulance Command Centre, and St John’s Ambulance as their Dispatch Officer in the Ambulance division. She says she would see people caring for family members in the hospital, and then having to return to work the next day or they would ask the aunty or family member that was not working.

Mohammed also says this sparked the interest of providing this service to people to not inconvenience them.

She further says she met Ruth Tawake, who is now the Director of Loloma Kauwai, in the hospital while Tawake was doing her care-giving attachment.

The Loloma Kauwai founder adds that Tawake was able to put the dream that she had only seen in her head down on paper and work out the logistics.

She also adds that they are not only focusing on the now, as they already have plans in the pipeline of opening a Loloma Kauwai Care-giving Home.

Mohamed's advice is to not let your disability define them as anything is possible.
