Two Fiji Corrections Service officers have been disciplined following an incident outside a nightclub in Suva, where they were filmed allegedly confronting Police officers while appearing to be under the influence of alcohol.
The Fiji Corrections Service confirms that it has completed its internal investigation into the incident and taken disciplinary action against the two officers.
The Service has not disclosed the type of disciplinary action taken.
The Corrections Service says the officers were off duty when they were filmed verbally confronting and obstructing two Police officers who were conducting a night patrol.
The officers appeared to be under the influence of alcohol at the time, according to the Corrections Service.
The Service has expressed deep regret over the incident, saying such behaviour is contrary to the standards of discipline, respect and public trust expected of its officers.
The Corrections Service says the incident also undermines its working relationship with the Fiji Police Force, as both organisations work together to protect communities across the country.
The Service assures the public that mandatory professional conduct training will continue for all serving officers to strengthen discipline and help prevent similar incidents.
