The Interim Finance Minister had called on Australia and New Zealand to leave Fiji to resolve its own problems and also try to understand why we have had four coups over the past 20 years.
Mahendra Chaudhry said the People's Charter process is necessary and the Australian and New Zealand governments should realize the interim government will fix all the problems before going into the next elections.
He said the political problems which lead to coups in Fiji need to be resolved now.
Meanwhile, New Zealand Foreign Affairs Minister Winston Peters had issued a warning to Commodore Frank Bainimarama's interim government not to underestimate the power of the Pacific Islands Forum.
Peters told ABC Pacific Beat that the Forum is not powerless and the same forum members may contemplate withdrawing from some major regional institutions in Fiji if the interim government does not have the elections in March 2009.
