The government has today announced new initiatives to strengthen, simplify and improve the standard of its service to people within its four divisions.

This announcement follows the assignment of four colonels from the Fiji Military Forces to head the four divisional administrations.

Permanent Secretary for Provincial Development, Manasa Vaniqi said government ministries within four districts will no longer operate in isolation.

He said the Divisional Commissioners will be allocated more resources and have a direct influence and authority in the planning, resourcing and delivery of service by ministerial offices within their divisions.

The Divisional Commissioners will also be able to spearhead development projects valued below $100,000, without having to refer to higher authority all the time.

Colonel Ifiremi Vasu is the Divisional Commissioner Eastern, Colonel Mosese Tikoitoga Central Division Colonel Inia Seruiratu Commissioner Northern and Commander Joeli Cawaki for Western Division.
