The Air Pacific Fiji Barbarians rugby team suffered a loss in their opening match in the IRB Pacific Rugby Cup competition.
They went down 13-17 to Savai Samoa in Apia this afternoon although they led 6-0 at the half-time.
Air Pacific Fiji Warriors also registered victory last night beating Tautahi Gold from Tonga by 21 points to 19.
Meanwhile defending champions Upolu Samoa also started the competition on a high note beating Tau'uta Reds from Tonga by 20 points to 19 in Nuku'alofa today.
